SUDAFRICA: STREGONI E SACRIFICI, MUCCA SGOZZATA PER MONDIALI - SOUTH AFRICA: WIZARDS AND SACRIFICES, CUT COW'S THROAT FOR WORLD CUP

Una mucca è stata sgozzata nel rito propiziatorio che si è consumato davanti allo stadio di Johannesburg, che l'11 giugno ospiterà la partita inaugurale dei Mondiali di Sudafrica 2010 e l'11 luglio sarà sede della finale. Il quotidiano 'The Star' riferisce che una dozzina di persone, vestite con pelli di animali, hanno ucciso la mucca per «annunciare agli antenati l'arrivo del mondo in Sudafrica». Il rito, a quanto pare, servirà anche a proteggere tutti i tifosi che arriveranno dall'estero «in modo che tutto si svolga in completa armonia».

Già ieri c'era stata un'accoglienza particolare per i primi giornalisti andati a prendere l'accredito per il Mondiale al centro stampa nei paraggi dello stadio, il Soccer City. A ricevere i reporter, con canti e danze particolari era stato un folto gruppo di stregoni 'sangomas', tutti di colore ed in prevalenza donne, che hanno dato anche la loro benedizione ai giornalisti presenti dopo aver spiegato che la loro filosofia segue la tradizione Nguni (che comprende le etnie locali Zulu, Xhosa, Ndebele e Swazi) ed è «basata sulla fede negli spiriti ancestrali». «Siamo adepti di una filosofia simile a quella vudu - ha precisato uno di loro, Gopolong Mashishi - e utilizziamo anche filtri con erbe».

Gli stregoni garantiscono che 'invaderannò il centro stampa e ritiro accrediti anche nei prossimi giorni, «perchè siamo felici e vogliamo dare il benvenuto a tutti».
